A Few Things We Want You to Know About Sterling Silver
All of VERA MUSE's silver jewelry is made from S925 sterling silver. S925 means it contains 92.5% silver, with the remaining 7.5% being other metals (usually copper). This ratio prevents the silver jewelry from being too soft, making it just right for wearing. More importantly, we use solid S925 sterling silver—not silver plating on the surface, nor only silver ear posts, but the entire necklace, the entire pair of earrings. This is very important to us because what you wear should not be deceitful on the surface.
Regarding sterling silver turning black, we want to tell you: it is normal for sterling silver to tarnish; it is not a defect, nor is it your fault. Silver naturally reacts with sulfur dioxide in the air to form black silver sulfide—this is oxidation. Everyone's sweat acidity varies, living environments differ, and even the frequency of wearing affects the rate of oxidation. So if your silver jewelry turns black, please don't worry; it truly doesn't mean anything other than a normal reaction of silver.
What if it does turn black? The simplest method is to use a silver polishing cloth to wipe it, which can remove the black surface and restore over eighty percent of its luster. If the oxidation is more severe, you can use silver polishing cream or silver cleaning solution, but do not soak it in the cleaning solution for more than 5 seconds. After soaking, quickly rinse thoroughly with water and dry completely. Daily care is even simpler: after wearing it every day, wipe off sweat with a dry cloth, then place it in a zip-lock bag or velvet pouch to isolate it from the air, which can significantly slow down the oxidation process.
